I received this e-mail yesterday and felt so strongly about it, i wanted to let all my dear friends know. Maybe this is old news, but I have never seen anything so specific regarding women and heart attacks.

Please forward to every woman you love...it may save her life!

A NURSE'S HEART ATTACK EXPERIENCE

I am an ER nurse and this is the best description of this event that I have ever heard.

FEMALE HEART ATTACKS

I was aware that female heart attacks are different, but this is the best description I've ever read.
Women and heart attacks (Myocardial infarction).

Did you know that women rarely have the same dramatic symptoms that men have when experiencing heart attack .. You know, the sudden stabbing pain in the chest, the cold sweat, grabbing the chest & dropping to the floor that we see in the movies.

Here is the story of one woman's experience with a heart attack.

'I had a heart attack at about 10:30 PM with NO prior exertion, NO prior emotional trauma that one would suspect might have brought it on. I was sitting all snugly & warm on a cold evening, with my purring cat in my lap, reading an interesting story my friend had sent me, and actually thinking, 'A-A-h, this is the life, all cozy and warm in my soft, cushy Lazy Boy with my feet propped up.

A moment later, I felt that awful sensation of indigestion, when you've been in a hurry and grabbed a bite of sandwich and washed it down with a dash of water, and that hurried bite seems to feel like you've swallowed a golf ball going down the esophagus in slow motion and it is most uncomfortable. You realize you shouldn't have gulped it down so fast and needed to chew it more thoroughly and this time drink a glass of water to hasten its progress down to the stomach. This was my initial sensation---the only trouble was that I hadn't taken a bite of anything since about 5:00 p.m.

After it seemed to subside, the next sensation was like little squeezing motions that seemed to be racing up my SPINE (hind-sight, it was probably my aorta spasms), gaining speed as they continued racing up and under my sternum (breast bone, where one presses rhythmically when administering CPR).

This fascinating process continued on into my throat and branched out into both jaws. 'AHA!! NOW I stopped puzzling about what was happening -- we all have read and/or heard about pain in the jaws being one of the signals of an MI happening, haven't we? I said aloud to myself and the cat, "Dear God, I think I'm having a heart attack!"

I lowered the foot rest dumping the cat from my lap, started to take a step and fell on the floor instead.I thought to myself, If this is a heart attack, I shouldn't be walking into the next room where the phone is or anywhere else ... But, on the other hand, if I don't, nobody will know that I need help,and if I wait any longer I may not be able to get up in a moment.

I pulled myself up with the arms of the chair, walked slowly into the next room and dialed the Paramedics ... I told her I thought I was having a heart attack due to the pressure building under the sternum and radiating into my jaws. I didn't feel hysterical or afraid, just stating the facts. She said she was sending the Paramedics over immediately, asked if the front door was near to me, and if so, to un-bolt the door and then lie down on the floor where they could see me when they came in.

I unlocked the door and then laid down on the floor as instructed and lost consciousness, as I don't remember the medics coming in, their examination, lifting me onto a gurney or getting me into their ambulance, or hearing the call they made to St. Jude ER on the way, but I did briefly awaken when we arrived and saw that the radiologist was already there in his surgical blues and cap, helping the medics pull my stretcher out of the ambulance.

He was bending over me asking questions (probably something like 'Have you taken any medications?') but I couldn't make my mind interpret what he was saying, or form an answer, and nodded off again, not waking up until the Cardiologist and partner had already threaded the teeny angiogram balloon up my femoral artery into the aorta and into my heart where they installed 2 side by side stints to hold open my right coronary artery.

'I know it sounds like all my thinking and actions at home must have taken at least 20-30 minutes before calling the paramedics, but actually it took perhaps 4-5 minutes before the call, and both the fire station and St. Jude are only minutes away from my home, and my Cardiologist was already to go to the OR in his scrubs and get going on restarting my heart (which had stopped somewhere between my arrival and the procedure) and installing the stints.

'Why have I written all of this to you with so much detail?

Because I want all of you who are so important in my life to know what I learned first hand.'

1. Be aware that something very different is happening in your body not the usual men's symptoms but inexplicable things happening (until my sternum and jaws got into the act).

It is said that many more women than men die of their first (and last) MI because they didn't know they were having one and commonly mistake it as indigestion, take some Maalox or other anti-heartburn preparation and go to bed, hoping they'll feel better in the morning when they wake up ... which doesn't happen. My female friends, your symptoms might not be exactly like mine, so I advise you to call the Paramedics if ANYTHING is unpleasantly happening that you've not felt before.

It is better to have a 'false alarm' visitation than to risk your life guessing what it might be!

2. Note that I said 'Call the Paramedics.' And if you can, take an aspirin. Ladies, TIME IS OF THE ESSENCE!

Do NOT try to drive yourself to the ER - you are a hazard to others on the road. Do NOT have your panicked husband who will be speeding and looking anxiously at what's happening with you instead of the road.

Do NOT call your doctor -- he doesn't know where you live and if it's at night you won't reach him anyway, and if it's daytime, his assistants (or answering service) will tell you to call the Paramedics.. He doesn't carry the equipment in his car that you need to be saved!

The Paramedics do, principally OXYGEN that you need ASAP. Your Dr. will be notified later.

3. Don't assume it couldn't be a heart attack because you have a normal cholesterol count.

Research has discovered that a cholesterol elevated reading is rarely the cause of an MI (unless it's unbelievably high and/or accompanied by high blood pressure).

MI's are usually caused by long-term stress and inflammation in the body, which dumps all sorts of deadly hormones into your system to sludge things up in there.

Pain in the jaw can wake you from a sound sleep. Let's be careful and be aware.

The more we know the better chance we could survive..

A cardiologist says if everyone who gets this mail sends it to 10 people, you can be sure that we'll save at least one life.

2010 Winding Road

It seems that the older we get, time seems to pass more quickly. 2010 was no exception!
After closing the shop in January I guess I went into hibernation mode. 8 years of a full time job along with the 'shop' which consumed every waking hour, took its toll. I felt guilty because I had put my family, home and friends on the back burner. The Cowboy told me that people he met along the way didn't even know that he was married...how pathetic is that!

So 2010 was the year to NOT have a plan, take each day as it came and enjoy my family. As they say, there is a reason for everything that happens in the universe.

We buried 4 family members last year and 1 dear friend. 2 who had lived through 90+ years, my dad's youngest sister (he is the last of 8), a cousin who suffered from Alzheimer's, and our dear friend Joe who fought a courageous battle with brain cancer, Though the loss is heartbreaking, the celebrations of their lives were inspiring and my heart swelled with pride when I witnessed all the lives these people touched.

Although the work involved is too long to list, the camaraderie and inspiration makes you forget about the aching bones, the slivers and bruises. Also let's you forget about all of the problems in the world.

We've not made a plan for 2011 but the new year brings changes to our lives!
My daughter, who reached the 30 year milestone last year, took the giant and scary leap to start College! I'm soo proud of her! She started on January 3rd and is getting into the swing of things.
I'm looking for the 'dream' job. Maybe this doesn't exist, but I believe it's out there!
We'll be hosting a wedding in July at the Ponderosa and there is ALOT of work to do before it's worthy!

As I've said in the past, I don't make new years resolutions, but I do set goals! My goal for 2011:

Windmill Salvage - The Removal

The Hookup...

As in any business, you must have 'The Professional' aka 'The Cowboy' aka my husband do the dirty work.

Besides the obvious (like a paycheck) there are benefits when you work for a sign company...having access to boom trucks and the little bucket trucks are great for hanging Christmas lights! Also, my husband was a former sign man and knows how to operate the crane.

WHEW...SHE MADE IT!

I don't have pic's of the rest of the day, but they would have included loading this beauty on the heavy equipment trailer, blocking it, and securing it for the 40 mile trip to the Ponderosa. Sounds easy enough except for the fact that the trailer is designed to carry heavy equipment...like 10 tons...so that means the windmill is like a scrawny little Popsicle stick structure.

I followed The Cowboy in his dump truck and trailer, to monitor the safety (doesn't every job need a supervisor?) and make sure everything was staying secure. We did have to make 3 stops, thank goodness for cell phones, to re-secure and stabilize along the way. A trip that normally takes about an hour took almost 2 hours. But I'm happy to report we made it to the Ponderosa, everything intact.

This is The Ponderosa (very old picture), where the little windmill will make her new home. I'll be taking pictures tomorrow of the Ponderosa, so I can post a few later.

Windmill Rescue

Dump Truck and heavy equipment trailer...check.

Helpers...check.
We're off this morning to disassemble the antique windmill from my in-laws farm. The future owners of their farm had no interest in the windmill that my father-in-law hauled back from North Dakota. Being the junk lover that I am I could not let this piece of history possibly end up at the salvage yard or worse! Nobody else wanted it until I asked for it! You know what they say about the early bird.

Sold the Farm

After 45 years, my in-laws decided it was time to downsize. All of the kids are settled and are where they want to be so the house won't be staying in the family. They had a list of people, who through the years had told them.."if you ever decide to sell, let us know". The list started with the family of the original owners. Unfortunately they had moved to several different states and nobody was willing to move back to Yakima. The second family on their list was just in the financing stages of building a new home. Perfect timing! So they have changed their plans and are purchasing this 1908 farmhouse.

The last month has been spent clearing out 3 barns, several outbuildings and the attic of the house. Now I love my in laws to pieces, but have discovered they're H O A R D E R S! Not the scary dead animal kind, but very organized and calculated! How could I have missed this? I've been part of this family for over 30 years and never realized that every nook and cranny is packed to the gills.

So this weekend we're having the...

On to more pleasant news...check out the lineup of vendors at Barn House's latest post. I'm very honored to be included in this lineup. Most I know from previous events or my many travels around the Pacific Northwest. Amazing talent awaits you, and if you spend some time to chat, you'll find that these people have beautiful hearts as well.

Traveled to Idaho last weekend, hit the road at 4:30 am and ended up here.
The early bird does get the worm.
Rolene had rounded up some great vendors and her property was gorgeous. My daughter fell in LOVE with Pinkie and is on the lookout for her twin. There's a wedding being planned and she thought this would be a great beverage center.
Loaded up my truck with great finds for Barn House and Clayson Farms!

Home Staging

A dear customer of Flutterby is selling her home and she asked if i would stage her home prior to her realtor taking photos.
This home has so much character, and Mary has a great eye...that this was an easy project to accomplish!

All the curtains are made from 9x12 painters cloths available at Lowes (around $20 ea.) and cut in half. My friend MaryJo, who is the sewing wizard, made all of the panels and also the slip covered furniture in the office/library.

Mary and Del (we should all wish we had husbands like him) gave the kitchen such a simple face-lift just by painting everything (cabinets included), new hardware, new laminate on counter tops and subway tile backsplash from a left-over bathroom project. I believe they spent less than $500 and the transformation is incredible!
The only decorative items (other than fabric) that were purchased, were a pair of buffet lamps for the dining room at a cost of $69.00. Everything i used was already there...including branches and hydrangea from Marys yard.
Simple idea's that cost very little....
Covered a lamp base with left-over burlap.
Spray painted a lamp base white that was green.
Painted and glazed a 1980's coffee table (in the living room).

The Blow out Sale has been incredible and we've been able reassure our customers that it's just not that easy to get rid of us! As time allows, i will let everyone in on what's in store for this coming year.

We will be bringing in 1 final truck load on Saturday (1/9) which includes mostly larger items.

The response has been so good, that our final day will be Wednesday 1/13/10.

We also want to thank everyone that has supported our little dream the past 8 years. Your friendships mean more to us than words can express!

Our good friend Sarah Fewell was kind enough to feature a wine tasting at our little soiree...and i must say that their wine is superb! The icing on the cake. She also volunteered to take photo's since that detail was missed (must be side effects from the swine flu!). She'll drop by a CD for us to post soon! What a weekend! I invited the boys from Barnhouse and Auntie Joy (Dave & Sam too) to be my guests at our little farm which is located on Chinook Pass. The pressure was on to finish up the little projects that have been hanging over my head, like hooking up the hot water tank, shower fixtures, gathering-painting-and moving furniture in (sorry, no sink in bathroom) so my company would have a comfortable place to stay. Needless to say, the boys and girls were the best guests a gal could ask for! We talked until the wee hours of the morning, kept the local cafe employees wide awake waaay after hours with our outrageous laughter (they'll probably be talking about us for awhile) and joked about the roosters that are just a bit 'off'.
Not to mention Clayson Farms Antique Show! This was possibly the most laid-back, fun show i've ever done! The vendors were outstanding, Mark and Leslee http://www.claysonfarm.blogspot.com/ made sure every detail was tended to. And when we went back on Sunday to load out, Mark BBQ'd for us! We soo appreciate all the WORK thats involved in producing a show of this caliber. Small business owners unite behind a simple concept, creating a nationwide wildfire
Minneapolis, MN, April 6, 2009 — What began as an off-the-cuff blog comment may well be one
of the fastest spreading promotions in small business history.
Three weeks ago, retail consultant and blogger, Cinda Baxter, tossed out a suggestion that
consumers actively support three locally owned businesses, then asked that they commit $50
per month to them. “Letʼs call it the 3/50 Project,” she quipped, before hitting the send key and
filing the idea away.
A few days later, the idea bubbled up again, this time in the form of a free flyer business owners
could download, print, then hand their customer while thanking them for patronizing their
establishments.
A week after that, a 2-page website went live, “to control the amount of email I was receiving,
asking what the next step was,” according to Baxter. “There really wasnʼt a lot of forward
planning involved...yet.” In its first 24 hours, the miniscule site had attracted the attention of 350
visitors, according to Google Analytics.
Based on the interest, she spent two days creating a full-blown, multi-page site. One week after
it went live, the number of “absolute unique visitors” hitting the350project.net had ballooned to
more than 7,500. “8,600-plus if you count repeat visits,” reports the Projectʼs founder. “When
Twitter and Facebook users found us, well...it was a done deal. We went viral.”
The movementʼs success is attributed to the simplicity of the message, and the form in which itʼs
delivered. While most Buy Local campaigns rely on terminology about “local living economies”
and “sustainable micro-economics,” The 3/50 Project answers questions consumers are likely to
ask in the language they speak at the dinner table: Whatʼs it going to cost, and how will this
help?
This plain English approach appears to have worked, given the passion with which both
business owners and consumers have embraced it. Baxter explains “Thereʼs no telling how
many people out there are actively behind this. The fire began to spread early on when
business owners started emailing the flyer to everyone they knew.”
Thus far, several hundred supporters have registered with the Project, but she adds “Itʼs not
inconceivable that for every supporter we know about there are ten or fifteen more.”
About The 3/50 Project:
Created to build loyalty and increased revenue for independent, locally owned businesses, The
3/50 project relies on a simple message: “Pick 3. Spend 50. Save your local economy.”
• Pick three locally owned businesses youʼd hate to see disappear, then return to them.
• Spend $50 per month in locally owned businesses. If half the employed U.S. population did so,
it would generate more than $42.6 billion in revenue.
• For every $100 spent in locally owned businesses, $68 returns to the local community. When
spent in a big box, chain, or franchise, $43 remains. Purchases made online return nothing.
Supporters have access to free materials that publicize the message, including a downloadable
flyer that can be printed on any color printer, then handed to customers while thanking them for
their patronage. Additional items include a window banner, a countertop sign, member badges
for websites, graphics for newsletters and blogs, a movie screen panel for theaters, and window
clings bearing The 3/50 Project logo, donated by The Chicago Market—one of the movementʼs
most proactive fans.

I'm obsessed with lamps! When i happened upon this booth at Expo last month i just about wet my pants! Here is a sampling of some amazing lighting created by NASH. All of the components are found objects, some of the shades were actually antique mercury glass and he also adds reproduction 'Edison type' bulbs to complete the look!

I've read several blogs lately that had tutorials that were awesome (http://isabellang.blogspot.com/, and since i have such a difficult time trying to post, i thought i would share the following:

Since alot of our finds require some sort of facelift (we probably all will when we're 100+), we'll repaint, distress and glaze. I thought I might share one of our little secrets (since nobody is beating down the door to pay us for it) and show you the finished product. We purchase the gallon at Home Depot (approx $36) but sometimes you can get it in a quart also (just depends what customer 'service' technician helps you). Start out with a freshly painted piece (picture frames are great too) and distress till the cows come home. We are very fortunate to have to use of a sign shop which has a DA sander! Gotta love those power tools.

Have a basin of clean water, clean rag (t-shirts are best), the Smoke glaze and a good quality paint brush (the cheap ones leave bristles in your work-invest in a good brush...you'll probably spend about $15 but it will pay for itself in the long run).

It's best to start in a small area (2x2) like a drawer or cabinet door, to get the feel of how this product feels.

HUGE Tip: You can always add more if you like...but you can't take it away!

Brush the Glaze over the entire surface, drawer pulls too, and let it set for a couple of minutes. Submerge your rag in the water and wring out most of the water. You will then begin to wipe off the glaze (its more like dusting your furniture rather than scrubbing the toilet). When you're just moving glaze around, rinse your rag and start removing more glaze. You'll eventually wipe as much excess glaze off your piece as you prefer.

Another tip: This product dries much darker.

This particular section required Q-Tips, which i realized AFTER I started.

The end result gives you a piece that has an aged look (ya know...dirt in the cracks) and takes away that 'fresh painted' look. No offense intended for those of you who like that look.

PS: Don't forget to do the inside of the drawers and cabinets...it gives it a much more finished look.

Portland Road Trip

Out goes the old year and in with the new. Kind of like the rug by the door that has seen too many dirty boots!

I don't make resolutions because that's just a big fat lie to myself, goals are okay but mine are usually set so high they're unrealistic and if not achieved then I'm disappointed so why set myself up?

So i go shopping for a new rug, go junking, seek out inspiration and am thrilled with life...one day at a time!

Sis and I hit the road and went to Portland. After the first stop in The Dalles we loaded our treasures, got in the truck..looked at each other and giggled that wild giggle that only true junkers know. We knew it was a sign and the rest of our trip would be bountiful! By the time we reached Portland the back seat of the truck was just about full!

The first stop we made was to see our dear friend Randy of Madison Park Antiques in the Sellwood District. He opened his shop about a year ago but this was our first visit. I wondered around 4 or 5 times to take in his handy work. I found inspiration here!

Needless to say the truck was overflowing...we even have to go back to pick up a cool rack that just didn't fit...so sad! When the shop is up to par, we've got that post Christmas blah thing going on right now, we'll take photo's!

This weekend we're off to market in Seattle. Not overly excited, but hoping we can seek out a few new lines to bring into the shop and order for Christmas. We might even be able to hit a few shops while we're there. Pacific Galleries Antique Mall has some amazing vendors. We might be able to visit Red Ticking (http://www.redticking.com/) and drool over some fabulous french fabrics and unique finds.

We pulled it off once again...

we were closed for 2 days

this year as we felt more time

would leave happy faces

on our faces! The final 5

hours and we were working

like robots...making funny noises, grunting and groaning because our backs and hips had really been put to the test. We completely changed every display and moved every peice of furniture along with bringing in new pieces. Many thanks go out to our niece/daughter Wendy for being such a trooper, she just came in and basically read our minds, removed fall displays outside, planted trees in the urns, brought us coffee, etc., etc., etc. and even worked Friday night! Thank you again Wendy!

Saturday was our big bash to start off the holiday season and it was a smashing success! Our heartfelt thanks go out to our loyal customers as the general consensus was that they would rather support small local business rather than the big box stores! How great is that!

I believe we feel off the face of the earth...but no worries we're back at it and going strong. Lots of projects in the works for the holidays, many long hours and sleepless nights. Ordering, planning, creating, updating, and on and on and on!

In our shop, we like to give inspiration by using materials that are readily found at farmers markets, fruit stands, along the road, from your yard and even the hubby's scrap pile. My friend Lynette (garden girl) made the wire nest from old baling wire, layered some moss in the bottom, cut several branches from white Birch tree and then put my fairy tail and heirloom squash in..Waa Laa..instant center piece for any island, table, outdoor bench, whatever your little hearts desire!
Wait till you see the hops..they only cost a case of beer (Busch, not the good stuff!)

Sorry for the delay...i've been working on this post for almost a week.

All that we can say is WOW! This was one of the best shows we've ever participated in. We love this world, this magical, wonderful, antique lovin' world...what an honor it has been to be in the company of such fabulous, creative, and just down-right NICE women and artisans!

The wonderful customers waited 1-1/2 hrs, in the rain, and some driving 200-400 miles just to attend. WOW! Like martha from http://www.vintagetrifles.blogspot.com/, she won the award for best shopping cart!

These are our booth partners...Lynette and Carrie of 'garden girl'. What a pleasure it was to share space with them - and also lynette's 'honey' - what a trooper he was, dealing with 5 women and always with a smile on his face. Someone does have a photo of him taking a quick 5 in the back of lynettes truck.

Here are some pic's of our space...it was crammed to the hilt. If we had a ladder that was tall enough, we would have stacked it to the rafters. Teri from the Farm Chicks visited with us on Sunday and let us know that 3600+ came through the gate on saturday. And believe me, people were packed shoulder to shoulder, but there was not a crabby person in the house!

Saturday afternoon around 5:00 we completely re-arranged and brought in new inventory. Thankfully we brought a huge trailer so we had plenty of goodies to refresh! We decided on the way home Sunday night (after delivering a piece of furniture) that next year we would need a bigger space!

Unfortunatley, we only have pic's of our space, we didn't really get to wander around until sunday. But we did get to visit with some old friends and made some new. Bari J had the most awesome handbags and came all the way from San Francisco, what a sweatheart! http://barij.typepad.com/my_weblog/. Chehalis Road Trip

Another dreary (rainy) morning as sis and i are on the way to 'an antique sale' in Chehalis WA. We've timed the trip before and it takes 2 hours and 45 minutes with 2 pit stops (1 potty-1coffee). Arrived at the show about 10 minutes before it opened and visited with other excited shoppers. 20 minutes later we had gone through the show twice and left empty handed...we couldn't believe we bought zip!! So we headed off the Centrailia to see what we could find.

We drove through the country-side and saw a sign that advertised 'miniature cows' so we quickly deduced that must be where 'petite sirloin' comes from, and we laughed....until we came across some mini-houses - no kidding! and people lived in them, we could see couches and TV's through their open front doors, and we laughed... Stopped by a yard sale and the following greeted us:

He was no mini, but really wanted his pic taken! We were trying to decide if he was a horse or a mule. Mule!

Mother Natures perogative

So I had this great idea for a post on my way to town on Friday. While driving i encountered a herd of elk, which is very common. The best thing to do when they're loitering around the road is to just stop-not slow down-STOP. So i grabbed by little digital wonder and rolled my window down to snap a quickie of these beasts! And they truely are beasts! All the green that you see in the photo is my neighbors new, tender, baby hay field...which the elk LOVE. So needless to say, i felt really sorry for my neighbor.

Don't get me wrong, i realize that we live in their backyard...that's why we have sewer pipe around our tree trunks, some trees have fences around them and i don't plant anything that they might want to eat.

Now back to mother Nature, when I left the house on Saturday morning to head to a great Country Moving Sale...this is what i found

Enough already! All I want to do is clean out the flower beds and spruce things up a bit for SPRING! Actually we're putting our house up for sale so 'sprucing' is a bit of an understatement! I can't make it shine in my snow boots and parka!

Work-Work-Work

Last night was a work night and my poor sis, aka 'the tool virgin' was attempting to get screwed. Let me explain...Claudette is 5' tall and probably weighs in at 100 lbs. (wet), needless to say, she's kinda whimpy when it comes to doing physical work. Most of the time she's not allowed to use power tools because she's also a Klutz! She's like the little kid that say's look mom-no hands and then proceeds to crash because she wasn't looking where she was going. That would be my sister! So last night, she really, really wanted to use the battery drill and needed a little instruction. About 45 minutes later she figured out how to change the drill bit...in the process of bending over the bench (don't know why) she layed on the paint can lid, messy side up, in her pretty navy blue sweatshirt! All in all she did awesome job...drilled, screwed & routed!

This is a picture of a settee that we finished and is at the shop. hard to tell but, is has a gold silk-tone-on-tone stripe fabric. With this piece, we used a gold glaze...turned out pretty cute. Those fabric tacks were a pain!

This is another finished project at the shop. Hard to tell but the fabric is awesome!

WHAT ARE THESE? 3 different sizes, small opening on one end, no screw threads though and a small finial on the other. I love find wierd stuff!

Whew Hew...just received word that we're getting 3 more boxes of McCoy pottery. The last 3 boxes contained over 30 pieces, mostly vases and in mint condition! Years ago she collected McCoy when collecting McCoy was not 'in'. All of it has been neatly packed and stored away for about 20 years and she has slowly been letting it go..TO US! We'll post pic's when we unpack!

Expo, Portland OR

Off to Portland 3/1/08. Only kim and her hubby went to the show and he was a very good sport too. As long as i kept him fed and a Bud Light now and then he didn't complain once! Forgot to take the camera to the show (or did i just forget about in the mad frenzy?!) so was unable to take photo's of some of our favorite vendors and also some new ones that appeared this spring. But i did find treasures...hmmm, seems i can find treasures where-ever i go. Found old wicker, silver, paper, tin and just some funky cool stuff. Now we have to decide what to keep for the shop and segregate for the shows that we'll be in. Anyway, wanted to share some photo's of our cool stuff.

First of all we want to thank Jennifer Grey from The Old Painted Cottage for the encouragment to create a blog...thank you Jennifer..it only took 6 months!

Long story short, we are 3 women, through the love and appreciation of everything old, opened a boutique in Yakima, WA (approx 150 miles east of Seattle). Our goal is to provide our customers with unusual treasures for their homes, a comfy 'come-as-you-are' atmosphere and the inspiration to be different.

We love pieces of architecture, ironstone(chips are ok), old paper, chippy painted furniture, tarnished silver, linen, slipcovers and anything that 'feels' of history. In other words, others peoples trash! Road trips, lattes, gummybears and beef jerky (power food).

This is a photo of our most recent road trip, these were treasures found in a barn (isn't that everyones dream!) that an old dealer gave us directions to, to pilfer as we wished.
